On October 24, U.G. Management Department Campus II hosted the much-anticipated debate competition, titled "Battle of Wits." Students from various classes participated, showcasing their skills in critical thinking, argumentation, and public speaking.
The objective of the "Battle of Wits" debate competition is to foster critical thinking, analytical skills, and effective communication among participants. This event aims to provide a platform for students to engage in intellectual discussions, exchange ideas, and develop well-supported arguments on complex topics. Through this competition, we seek to promote:
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication and public speaking
- Research and information literacy
- Respectful dialogue and civil discourse
- Teamwork and collaboration
By participating in this competition, students will develop their ability to articulate and defend their perspectives, think creatively, and respond thoughtfully to opposing viewpoints.
The debate competition was designed to promote intellectual growth and confidence in public speaking. Participants were judged based on content, delivery, clarity, and rebuttal. The event provided a platform for students to articulate their perspectives on relevant social and ethical issues, preparing them for future challenges in both academic and professional arenas.
The participants were given diverse and challenging topics across rounds, each testing their spontaneity and depth of knowledge. Topics ranged from social issues, technological advancements, and ethical dilemmas to abstract topics, each aimed at pushing the participants' limits of critical thinking.
The competition successfully fulfilled its objective of fostering a spirit of critical analysis and constructive dialogue. The top performers were awarded for their exceptional skill in debating, and all participants gained valuable experience that will aid in their personal and academic growth.
